Description
First, before we get to the meat about these ponchos, we must gush about the Seamless Garment Technique of weaving used to make them. Double weave, or as Jacqueline’s Textiles calls it, the Seamless Garment Technique allows for the construction of fabric without seams. Depending on how the loom is “leashed” or set up and then the sequence of the movement of the “warp” or vertical threads, the weave may create a tube, like the Jacqueline’s Textiles throw pillows, two separate fabrics woven simultaneously like the front of this posh and cozy poncho, or a piece of fabric twice the length of the loom like the front of the poncho and the buffalo check throw blankets. These ponchos are constructed so that the back is a double width seamless portion of fabric. Then for the front, to form the two sides, the warp movement sequence changes to weave two separate layers of fabric at the same time, both connected to the double-width back panel.
