  • Decorating with Hygge Placemats

Decorating with hygge handwoven placemats in tea leaf green add a cozy yet fresh appeal to your kitchen and dining decor. An understated glimmer of color in neutral minimalist decor.

Now it’s not particularly difficult to decorate with placemats. Get a table, set out the mats, put the dishes on the mats and there! You’re done. For an example of this see the picture above. What you may be wondering is how do I really inspire with the color choices for my kitchen decor? Furthermore, can they work in places besides the kitchen?

Carefully curated color options for decorating with hygge placemats

With Jacqueline’s Textiles, you have 13 color options to choose from. Undoubtedly decorating with hygge placemats is easy. I curated these colors myself selecting fresh light colors, muted Fall jewel tones, neutral hues and grey scales. Some of these tones overlap these categories. For example, the black placemats are considered both a neutral and a grey scale. The gold is considered light and fresh, but also a muted Autumn jewel tone. Because these colors overlap my carefully crafted categories, they work in different seasons, occasions and settings. Gold is great in the Spring. But it wonderfully accents your Fall decor. Plum feels quite at home with a grand Thanksgiving table setting. However, if your decor is neutral and muted throughout the year with hygge whites, beiges, browns, you’ll see a nicely understated accent with pleasing plum.

Overall, these colors are versatile and monochromatic for easy decorating. At Jacqueline’s Textiles, I like to offer single color items that work in a variety of settings and places. Afterall, these placemats don’t just work kitchen or the dining room. For an understated dash of color, use the place mats to embellish an end table or coffee table. Set a placemat under a vase. For visual interest select a color that contrasts with the vase or the flowers or greener inside. Use one on a TV stand to serve as a colorful staging spot for your remote control. Jacqueline’s Textiles offers the option to order one placemat color at a time. Just use code ACCENTPIECE. Surely, these accent pieces brighten and enhance a variety of spaces beyond your kitchen and dining room.

  • Decorating with Hygge Bistro Curtains

White curtains tied back with twine in sunny window. Hygge handwoven bistro curtains.
Delicate yet rich handwoven bistro curtains in a sunny window create a crisp and fresh look to your kitchen. Twine tiebacks included with curtains. Decorating with these hygge bistro curtains by Jacqueline’s Textiles is easy!

The short version for decorating with hygge bistro curtains:

Short curtains lend themselves well to kitchen windows because they are often small and kitchen decor tends to be open and bright. Jacqueline’s Textiles makes decorating with bistro curtains easy by utilizing monochromatic color in order to fit as many decor opportunities as possible. Brass, gold, wood, black and white curtain rods work well. Curtain rod finials of brass, gold, wood, black, white or glass all work with these curtains.

Complete with a hand sewn rod pocket, the curtains are ready to hang. However, for a special chic touch with a hint of industrialism, use curtain rings with clips. While the curtains are 2 feet in length, the window does not need to be roughly two feet for these curtains to work. For a taller window, merely install the curtain rod in the middle of the length of the window and you will have a unique appeal. Privacy at your level, plenty of sunlight coming in from above and gauzy light entering through these curtains. With this middle-of-the-window technique, these bistro curtains may work well with certain sizes of bedroom windows.

TL;DR version for decorating with hygge bistro curtains

This the Jacqueline’s Textiles guide for decorating with bistro curtains. I’m a girl who likes to decorate with light. Maybe it was my military upbringing–you can’t paint walls and Mom and Dad frowned upon hanging pictures and posters. So, I’ve grown to appreciate the simplistic beauty of a light airy room. I’m the kind of person who opens the blinds and curtains to let all the light in. In dark living arrangements with little natural light, I have been known to drop some serious coin on soft white LED lightbulbs with no less than 1600 lumens and a bunch of lamps. Being a natural light coinsure, I absolutely cherish these curtains I now offer.

I experimented a bit with different materials to see what kind of curtains I could get. The first set comprised of a cotton warp (vertical threads) and weft (horizontal threads) that was a bit thick and cushiony. Almost cuddly in their appearance. They provided plenty of privacy but nowhere near enough sun for my natural light addiction. The second cotton warp and weft set were perfect. I had made a table runner out of the same material and had an idea of what it would look like once finished, were it to sit on a table. But these curtains truly come alive in a sunny window.

    Curtains for bright airy decor

Light and airy, what I love about sheer curtains is that they filter light so delightfully. And the light moving through the curtains creates beautiful designs on the floor or the wall as the sun travels through the sky. As the name suggests, bistro, cafe or kitchen curtains are good in a kitchen. I’m partial to bright sunny kitchens with light colored cabinets and bright colors like cherry red or sunny yellow. Curtains like these lend themselves well to open, airy kitchens. They also work well with both a bohemian or minimalist decor schema.

I made these curtains with a rod pocket. Have curtain rod, will travel. However, I think these would look great with the curtain rings with clips. That will add and even airier look to your window with a hint of chic industrialism. Nearly any curtain rod and curtain ring material or color will work well with them. A finial for these curtains could be wood or glass for a sparkling appeal.

    Not just for the kitchen

They aren’t just relegated to your kitchen, however. If you have another small window in another room, these curtains will fit right in. In a bedroom, if you have a taller window, mount the curtain rod somewhere near the middle. That way you’ll have the fresh touch, a bit of privacy and plenty of light. Refurnishing a basement for a cozy living space? These curtains will look wonderful in the small high-up basement window. They’ll add a nice domestic touch to you renewed basement.

At Jacqueline’s Textile’s I primarily work in monochromatic color schemes to provide maximum design capabilities, I.e. white and natural curtains. One luscious color can stunningly transform or gently soften a room. Soon your room will inspire and comfort you with the hygge designs by Jacqueline’s Textiles.

  • JacquelinesTextiles.com A Dream Come True

What does it mean when the very thing you dreamed of doing falls into your lap? From making do with Etsy, to a full fledged website in a few months all because my pictures on Etsy were pretty. Thank God. St. Homobonus, patron of clothworkers, St. Anastasia, patoness of weavers, thank you for praying for me.

I’m always hesitant to say “literal”. It’s a word that’s over used, and also used incorrectly. When someone says, “I literally went to the store”, it doesn’t make sense. I didn’t find that person going to the store as so unbelievable but nonetheless true that she had to say “literally” to validate it. Now, if she went to the store and literally saw a T-Rex in the flesh, “literally” is a fine word to use.

So my conundrum in my grammar police ways in this situation is this: I didn’t dream of having a website. I did not literally go to sleep and literally dreamed of JacquelinesTextiles.com, and literally browse the pages of my literal very own personal website for my little textile business. This website has never come up in the myriad of dreamscapes my sleep has taken me to. But I have day dreamed about it. I’ve day dreamed about growing flax to turn into linen. That dream has materialized as well. I’ve day dreamed about what my site would look like, what kinds of products I would have, who I’d market to at the different price points, how I would take orders, how I would get the word out, what kinds of prices I’d have, what kind of materials I’d offer.

And now, with this website, I’m dreaming more. What all can I do with JacquelinesTextiles.com? I’m a business owner with a lot going on. I’m renovating an Airstream to live in–thing is, where I live is where I work. Should I convert The Byrd Buggy Project into a JT endeavor since I will build a studio and home in one? I’m even considering selling my 32 inch loom because my 28 foot Airstream will handle my 16 incher much better. Is my quest to end my homelessness something I can cover here and on YouTube as an effort to build the perfect tiny home studio? Cozy, functional, delightful and practical, if not a bit quirky?

My business was stolen by my trafficker husband in an effort to prevent me from leaving him. He took everything from me and striped me financially. It took a year to get my business equipment back. That is a seprate YouTube channel, but certainly I could write a few blog posts about the JT related aspects here. After all, my trafficker husband kept my gear because commerce, enterprise and business gives a woman wings and if I had my equipment last year my daughter and I would have landed on our feet.

There are so many possibilities. A whole world opens up with this website that pairs a blog and my current 77 subscribers and counting on YouTube. It’s amazing how after I had everything taken from me, all my dreams are now coming true.
